While the Alan Marriott Extreme Hypnosis Show on Saturday 24th July was not quite a “Monkey Valley Resort Workshop”, the venue is regularly used for Workshops and Conferences by large Corporates and small Businesses alike. The natural environment is ideal to focus on productivity and let the creative muscles unwind to. . . perform!

Talking of performance: here is the screenshot of yesterday’s article “Monkey Valley Resort Events” on Google… position number ONE with one shot… and it hasn’t changed even… have a look:

The fact is that we even have more than the number one position – our Website Publishing Network occupied 8 of the top 20 spots shortly after posting yesterday.

Today, I will go for “Workshops”… :)

Website Publishing

Website Publishing is an Art and a Must if you start or run a Business.

Of course, you can just go and set up a free WordPress Blog at no cost almost.It’s a great start….

But you very probably won’t reach the visibility you want and absolutely need if you target traffic, meaning customers and readers in any form and shape. In that sense, being on page 10 or 100 or 10 million on Google is like not being there at all. It’s like you write the coolest book of all times, the guaranteed bestseller . . . IFFFF someone would discover AND read it.

In Internet terms, if you’re no visible on Google Top 10 or 20 max… you don’t exist… you won’t be read.

If you are serious about setting up your business online, investing in a good, efficient and Search Engine oriented Script like Semiomantics – customized and optimized by one of the few Semiomantics experts out there -  is money well spent and simply good common sense. “Monkey Valley Resorts Events presents Hypnotist Alan Marriott” ran like a wave through Noordhoek, South Africa, and its surroundings… and the warm and cosy Conference Room at Monkey Valley Resort – all under thatched roof and low light projecting magic shadows over the wooden panels – was packed with a vibrant audience… And the owls hooed softly in the old milkwoods as the full moon appeared…

Not sure how the wood-fired pizza tasted as Alan Marriott drove that enormous solid nail through that mind of his . . . :)

Good News: he will be back! Don’t miss a great hour of Fun, Entertainment… and Wisdom beyond the Jokes!

Without a couple of additional GB nothing moves there. . . duh!

Alan Marriot, the Entertainer, mesmerized his audience with his “extreme hypnosis”, telepathy, manipulation of the mind… and he made us laugh as you see and hear in the short video above.

Beyond the jokes, however, hides a thoughtful and caring personality… a qualified hypno-therapist who helps people to get rid of addictions and pains.

Digital Media Design

Digital Media Design is what counts on the Internet today and we have to get ready for it!

Me shooting a movie clip with a digital camera is already ‘something’… but I am amazed at the quality.

Next is the conversion, especially when it comes to HD formats. Download times are a pain in countries with slow connections and there it’s best to first download the entire movie and then watch it without buffering. I always have to do this… as a rule – and it’s very, very annoying with tutorials… and I wish Adobe could make an effort to get that into ‘lighter’ shape as we really suffer down here.

With my website back up since about an hour after a temperamental migration to larger servers due to higher streaming capacities, I am happy to be back with a post!

I will have to catch up with a couple of articles that got lost in the roll-back. However, Internet lines incredibly slow and sticky today again; one wonders what’s going on out there . . .

Now that the WordPress has come out with version 3.0 which supports a multi-user environment, it is necessary to review a couple of points in a “Cheap Website Hosting” Update.

Cheap Website Hosting

Cheap website hosting is cheap because it is shared hosting. As such, even though we and many others advertise “Unlimited Hosting” in terms of disk usage and bandwidth, obviously the term cannot be taken literally. Rather it is limited to appropriate use within the confines of sharing with the entire membership. “Unlimited” means that you don’t have to keep track of your usage, and you won’t be charged for excess use. This I explained at length in the Knowledgebase on the BRap Hosting site.

But for inappropriate use you can lose your account by the data center, and there isn’t a lot that I can do to help you except to intercede to see where the problem is, and instruct you how to correct it.

I wrote as an example in the Knowledgebase that multi-user blogs can theoretically be OK, but can very rapidly become not OK, that ultimately as the network grows, it may conflict with the cheap website hosting offered by shared hosting, and that ultimately more advanced arrangements for hosting will need to be arranged.

Since WordPress 3.0 has multi-user functions, therefore people using multi-user functions should keep this in mind.

Video and Photo Hosting

The main problem facing shared hosting is sites that make too much use of memory and CPU resources.

This has become increasingly problematic with Video and Photo Hosting, which BRap Hosting definitely provides for the same cheap website hosting cost.

Overuse of media like video and slideshows can kill the site, or better, kill the server. The wisest of all men once said that a wise man has his eyes in his head (to plan ahead and visualize the future). Bearing that in mind, almost everything I have is hosted on BRap Hosting, including BRap Hosting itself.

Clearly, for regular non-complicated sites which use moderate media functions, you can’t beat BRap Hosting for price and expertise.

Silvermine Nature Reserve – along Ou Kaapse Weg when coming from Cape Town, South Africa, and driving over these stunning mountain ranges towards Noordhoek – has just exploded with gold!

Sweeping vistas from Silvermine Nature Reserve with a gentle mist dissolving in the early morning sunlight.

Although I experimented with filters in a couple of monochrome versions, I love the above untouched original digital picture from my simple Nikon Coolpix P90 as it’s so authentic and documenting a very special day.

Imagine with this a very soft breeze rustling through the leaves of the typical fynbos… the already withering ericas overgrown by strikingly energetic leucadendrons… and the occasional twitter of those beautiful little long-tailed sunbirds circling up into the crystalline air….

Magic!

That’s often the case… especially when working with professional photographers like David Turnley whose stunning pictures sometimes make it hard to choose! It’s good to get an outside view: what is your preference for the Homepage: the large picture with the “Photographer’s View” – or the version “Just Beach”?

In Digital Media Design and Website Publishing it is important to remember that people or visitors who come to this website via Google, do so through search terms like “Accommodation” , “Restaurant”, “Wedding Venues” or “Conference Venues” – perhaps more geographically targeted or according to individual preferences and needs, however, hardly anyone goes to a Homepage… unless sent there to enjoy the entire website.

Still, we want to offer an attractive view on the Homepage and a fast and user-friendly way to navigate to where the main interest of a visitor and potential customer is.

“Just Beach” or “Photographer’s View” – that is the question?
